Aliens Might be Found by NEXT YEAR – BOMBSHELL Prediction by a Leading Astrophysicist

ALIEN life could be discovered as early as NEXT YEAR following the astonishing discovery of a solar system similar to ours, according to the astrophysicist who found the first exoplanet.

Michel Mayor, the man who spotted 51 Pegasi b – the first planet to be found outside of the solar system – in 1995, says the TRAPPIST-1 system could lead scientists to alien life as early as next year.

In late February, Nasa announced the discovery of TRAPPIST-1 – a solar system 39 light years away which is complete with seven planets, three of which experts believe may be Earth-like.

The discovery of a solar system which is very similar to our own prompted speculation from everyone ranging to the public to top professionals this could be the breakthrough needed in the search for alien life.

Now, with the launch of Nasa’s James Webb Telescope planned for this year, Mr Mayor believes that could lead us to unravelling one of the biggest mysteries of the universe – whether we or not we are alone.

The telescope will allow boffins at the space agency to examine the TRAPPIST-1 system more closely, and could provide the answers regarding extra-terrestrial beings.

Speaking to Wired, Mr Mayor said that by using the James Webb telescope, which is set to launch in October, “you can measure the content of water, carbon dioxide and many other components in the atmosphere [of exoplanets].

He added: ”It is the interplay between the theory of the atmosphere and observation done from this technique.

“The TRAPPIST-1 system is not too far away and it is a good system to carry out this kind of follow-up measurements.

“Imagine that the James Webb observes TRAPPIST-1 and by observing the atmosphere will be able to see a really clear chemical signature of some components in the atmosphere – oxygen maybe – it will be an indication that life exists.

“It is evident that if in the first system we are really observing we see signatures of life, there’s a strong argument life could be existing in many places across the Universe.”
