Kambalny, which has a height of 2,156 meters above sea level, began spewing ash on Friday evening. The ash rose to a height of 7,000 meters above sea level and traveled a distance of 255km in a south-westerly direction. The Kamchatka Volcanic Eruption Response Team (KVERT) of the Russian Academy of Sciences' Institute of Volcanology and Seismology has notified air traffic controllers of the danger of a volcanic eruption.
