Bannon Gets the Boot: Trump’s Chief Strategist FIRED!
Even for something as simple as this there is conflicting stories as to if Bannon resigned or if he was fired. UPDATE: it appears that Steve Bannon was in fact fired according to multiple sources.
US President Donald Trump has removed chief strategist Stephen K. Bannon from the post, White House spokesperson Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement on Friday.
According to the statement, Friday has been “agreed” to become Bannon’s last day at the White House.
“We are grateful for his service and wish him the best,” Huckabee said in a statement.
The New York Times reported earlier, citing high-profile officials, that Trump was considering firing Bannon.
The Times also reported that White House officials said it was Bannon’s idea to step down. He reportedly submitted his resignation on August 7 but the announcement of his departure was delayed by the Charlottesville events.
The report added that Bannon has clashed with senior White House officials and members of Trump’s family.
Bannon, 63, stirred up controversy by getting job in the US Administration. Having been worked for ultra-conservative media outlet Breitbart News, he has been repeatedly called by opponents a white supremacist.
