There is a saying that all good things must come to an end... our Sun, which sustains all life on Earth, is no exception. The European Southern Observatory (ESO) shared a horrifying visualization showing what it will be like when our star (the sun) dies. The Sun (and all stars) are fuelled by hydrogen which they burn at an extraordinary rate until the gas runs out. When this happens to our sun it will expand hundreds of times in size and into gargantuan red giant which will consume anything and everything in its path... and unfortunately as seen in this video, that includes the Earth. It's just a matter of time before our Sun reaches this phase of its life, but that will take about five billion years, so no cause for immediate panic, but it is still a terrifying vision.
