If you’re reading this you likely are someone who considers themself an animal lover and wants to align their actions with their beliefs regarding non human animals. You can go vegan or plant based. Vegans don’t consume any food derived from animals including dairy and eggs, wear or use anything derived or tested on animals (as much as can be avoided), whereas plant based is not eating any animal flesh and avoiding dairy and eggs but don’t go as far as ending their use of other products that may be derived from the bodies or secretions of animals.

One of the hardest myth to break is that humans require animal body parts to exist and/or be healthy, this is unequivocally false, humans require specific nutrients to thrive, not specific sources. While we do have the ability to survive on both animal flesh and plants (omnivore), there is no necessity for the consumption of animal body parts (aka meat). Along those lines one of the biggest misconception and myths to break is protein. Here is the shocker, ALL protein comes from plants! Think about where all the animals that are raised to be killed for their bodies get their protein, that’s right plants! Some links will also be included showing body builders who don’t eat meat or dairy, some have never eaten meat from birth.

We can get all essential nutrients from plants with one exception being reliably had from plant sources, B12… however there has been recent discoveries of B12 from plant sources such a duck weed (water lentils), you can read about it here Scientists Say They Have Discovered Vitamin B12 In Water Lentils B12 is otherwised derived from soil bacteria which is how the animals get it in the first place, and since the majority of animals that are consumed come from factory farms where the animals are not living in a natural environment, they are supplemented with B12 or cobalt to enable them to create B12 in their guts. So why take the life of a sentient being, cause detrimental health and environmental effects, for B12. Many vegan plant based milks are fortified, some foods as well, and/or one can simply take b12 as a supplement in a liquid drop or spray about once a week or once a month. There are some natural plant sources of B12 (algae/seaweed) but none are conveniently available so it makes more sense to take a drop or spray (but note the recent discoveries of b12 from plant sources mentioned above (water lentils aka duck weed, and there was also potentially a fruit (a particular berry) that potentially contains vitamin B12, but research is being done presently to confirm.
