Pentagon Does U-turn over Purpose of Secretive UFO Program
The US government has completely changed its story over the purpose of its now-cancelled UFO program.
Known as the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP), the top secret initiative, which reportedly aimed to investigate credible reports of UFOs, ran from 2007 to 2012.
Now though, the exact purpose of this secretive program has been called into question courtesy of Pentagon spokeswoman Susan Gough who recently spoke to The Black Vault’s John Greenewald jr.
According to Gough, neither AATIP nor its predecessor the Advanced Aerospace Weapon System Applications Program (AAWSAP) had anything to do with unidentified aerial phenomena.
“Neither AATIP nor AAWSAP were UAP related,” she said. “The purpose of AATIP was to investigate foreign advanced aerospace weapons system applications with future technology projections over the next 40 years, and to create a center of expertise on advanced aerospace technologies.”
This seems to contradict everything that we know about these projects and their intended purpose.
AATIP was originally founded at the request of former senator and UFO enthusiast Harry Reid and was reportedly aimed at investigating credible sightings of unidentified flying objects.
Among these were reports by US military pilots of unknown objects traveling at impossible speeds without any visible means of propulsion, or hovering without any apparent means of lift.
The objects encountered during the USS Nimitz incident would have also been of major interest.
“If anyone says they have the answers, they’re fooling themselves,” Reid wrote. “We don’t know the answers but we have plenty of evidence to support asking the questions. This is about science and national security. If America doesn’t take the lead in answering these questions, others will.”
Could it be that recent interest in the phenomenon has prompted the Pentagon to distance itself from the idea that it had been investigating UFOs ?
Could the use of the word ‘foreign’ in Gough’s comments still indicate a focus on potentially ‘alien’ technologies in addition to those of other world powers ?
The search for answers continues.
