The US government has completely changed its story over the purpose of its now-cancelled UFO program. Known as the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP), the top secret initiative, which reportedly aimed to investigate credible reports of UFOs, ran from 2007 to 2012. Now though, the exact purpose of this secretive program has been called into question courtesy of Pentagon spokeswoman Susan Gough who recently spoke to The Black Vault's John Greenewald jr. According to Gough, neither AATIP nor its predecessor the Advanced Aerospace Weapon System Applications Program (AAWSAP) had anything to do with unidentified aerial phenomena. "Neither AATIP nor AAWSAP were UAP related," she said. "The purpose of AATIP was to investigate foreign advanced aerospace weapons system applications with future technology projections over the next 40 years, and to create a center of expertise on advanced aerospace technologies."
