Researchers Believe MH370 Crash was Deliberate

An investigation by an Australian TV news program has suggested that the pilot crashed the plane on purpose.

Exactly what happened to Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 after it took off from Kuala Lumpur International Airport on March 8, 2014 still remains one of the most enduring mysteries in aviation history.

Now a new investigation in to the plane’s disappearance for TV show ’60 Minutes’ has put forward the controversial suggestion that the pilot may have crashed deliberately as part of a murder-suicide bid.

“[Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah] was killing himself; unfortunately, he was killing everybody else on board, and he did it deliberately,” said Canadian Air crash investigator Larry Vance.

To reach this conclusion, experts reconstructed the plane’s flight plan based on military radar data and revealed that the pilot had seemingly flown a specific path designed to deliberately avoid detection.

He had also made the unusual decision to dip the plane’s wing over his hometown of Penang.

The researchers concluded that Captain Shah had been in control of the plane the entire time – even during its final descent in to the sea – and that it may have flown 115 miles further than anticipated.

“They are very compelling,” aviation analyst Henry Harteveldt said of the claims.

“What I find very compelling is the hypothesis that the pilot did this deliberately, and did one of the most heinous acts in modern commercial aviation.”

As things stand however, this idea remains unproven and the plane’s disappearance is still unsolved.
