All of us, are in the process of becoming something else, something less human. Our very DNA is under assault, from known and unknown sources. I’ll provide modern examples of something called horizontal gene transfer, as well as evidence of paranormal phenomenon exposure and horizontal gene transfer.

Many animals, including humans, acquired essential ‘foreign’ genes from microorganisms co-habiting their environment in ancient times, according to research published in the open access journal Genome Biology. The study challenges the conventional view that animal evolution relies solely on genes passed down through ancestral lines and suggests that, at least in some lineages, the process is still ongoing.

The transfer of genes between organisms living in the same environment is known as horizontal gene transfer. It is well known in single-celled organisms and thought to be an important process that explains how quickly bacteria evolve resistance to antibiotics, for example.

Lead author Alastair Crisp from the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology at the University of Cambridge said: “This is the first study to show how widely horizontal gene transfer occurs in animals, including humans, giving rise to tens or hundreds of active ‘foreign’ genes. Surprisingly, far from being a rare occurrence, it appears that this has contributed to the evolution of many, perhaps all, animals and that the process is ongoing. We may need to re-evaluate how we think about evolution.”

In humans, they confirmed 17 previously-reported genes acquired from horizontal gene transfer, and identified 128 additional foreign genes in the human genome that have not previously been reported. A number of genes, including the ABO gene, which determines an individual’s blood group, were also confirmed as having been acquired by vertebrates through horizontal gene transfer. The majority of the genes were related to enzymes involved in metabolism.

The authors say that their analysis probably underestimates the true extent of horizontal gene transfer in animals and that direct transfer between complex multicellular organisms is also plausible, and already known in some host-parasite relationships. (source)

Modern example of horizontal gene transfer in Humans: Tick bite turns people into Vegetarian’s – Meat Allergy

(NaturalNews) It seems that there is a decline in meat eaters throughout the nation, at least red meat consumers. But it’s not out of compassion for animals or for nurturing their own health by keeping out secondhand antibiotics, hormones injected into cattle, or factory farm meat from GMO mush feed cattle with their attendant toxic herbicides and pesticides.

Of course, some meat eaters are wise enough to avoid factory farm products and go with free-range grass-fed cattle that are not injected with antibiotics and hormones. But the ranks are thinning slightly among both types of meat eaters because of tick bites.

It seems that a tick called the lone star tick — because it supposedly originated, ironically, from the beef-producing state of Texas — creates an extreme allergy to meat, especially red meat, that sometimes forces folks into hospital emergency rooms. But it doesn’t cause Lyme disease.

Are lone star ticks protecting cattle from gruesome deaths after terrible living conditions?

Lone star ticks and deer ticks are the two basic types of ugly parasitic insects discussed here that latch onto mammalian bodies and get fat, literally, on mammalian blood. Garlic, silver bullets and crosses don’t seem to affect them, but they do mostly stay out of direct sunlight.

But the meat allergy from lone star ticks wasn’t realized until 2011, when Dr. Scott Commins and Dr. Thomas Platts-Mills published the first paper linking rising meat allergies to the lone star tick. One of their first cases involved a bow hunter who had eaten meat all of his life, then he suddenly had a rash of several ER visits after eating meat.

Then, other outdoor0type people started coming in with similar allergic reactions. “It seemed something geographical. We thought at first it might be a squirrel parasite,” Dr. Commins explained. “It took us a while to sort of put everything together.”

Reporting from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Dr. Commins said, “I see two to three new cases every week.”

Dr. Erin McGintee, an allergy specialist on eastern Long Island, has seen so many tick-induced meat allergies that she’s created a database to help overall research on the mighty lone star tick.

“It is bizarre,” she exclaimed. “‘It goes against almost anything I’ve ever learned as an allergist,’” she said, as reported by The Associated Press, “because the symptoms can occur as long as eight hours after eating meat, rather than immediately, and the culprit is a sugar [from the tick] — a type of carbohydrate — whereas most food allergies are caused by proteins.”

And those symptoms can be very intense: extreme itching and burning skin sensations with hives that completely puff up one’s face, shutting one’s eyelids and constricting the throat and trachea (windpipe) to the point of not being able to speak or breathe.

Whenever you see “de novo” origin of a gene invoked, you know that evolutionary biologists lack any explanation for how that gene arose.
The old way of thinking – Genetics

For most of the last 40 years, scientists thought that this was the primary way new genes were born — they simply arose from copies of existing genes. The old version went on doing its job, and the new copy became free to evolve novel functions.

Certain genes, however, seem to defy that origin story. They have no known relatives, and they bear no resemblance to any other gene. They’re the molecular equivalent of a mysterious beast discovered in the depths of a remote rainforest, a biological enigma seemingly unrelated to anything else on earth.

The mystery of where these orphan genes came from has puzzled scientists for decades. But in the past few years, a once-heretical explanation has quickly gained momentum — that many of these orphans arose out of so-called junk DNA, or non-coding DNA, the mysterious stretches of DNA between genes. “Genetic function somehow springs into existence,” said David Begun, a biologist at the University of California, Davis.

This metamorphosis was once considered to be impossible, but a growing number of examples in organisms ranging from yeast and flies to mice and humans has convinced most of the field that these de novo genes exist. Some scientists say they may even be common.

Just last month, research presented at the Society for Molecular Biology and Evolution in Vienna identified 600 potentially new human genes. “The existence of de novo genes was supposed to be a rare thing,” said Mar Alb, an evolutionary biologist at the Hospital del Mar Research Institute in Barcelona, who presented the research. “But people have started seeing it more and more.”

Alien Message Embedded In Our Genetic Code?

Two scientists in Kazakhstan believe humans may have an extraterrestrial “stamp” embedded into our genetic code, a mathematical message that would not be explained by Darwin’s theory of biological evolution.

The scientists are suggesting that an advanced alien civilization “seeded” our galaxy eons ago with an ET signal that eventually found its way to Earth, implanting a genetic code into humans, reports Discovery.com.

Writing in the journal Icarus, they assert: “Once fixed, the code might stay unchanged over cosmological timescales; in fact, it is the most durable construct known. Therefore it represents an exceptionally reliable storage for an intelligent signature. Once the genome is appropriately rewritten the new code with a signature will stay frozen in the cell and its progeny, which might then be delivered through space and time.”

They go on to argue that their detailed analysis that the human genome (map here) displays a thorough precision-type orderliness in the mapping between DNA’s nucleotides and amino acids. “Simple arrangements of the code reveal an ensemble of arithmetical and ideographical patterns of symbolic language.” They say this includes the use of decimal notation, logical transformations, and the use of the abstract symbol of zero. “Accurate and systematic, these underlying patterns appear as a product of precision logic and nontrivial computing,” they assert.

This interpretation leads them to the conclusion: that the genetic code, “appears that it was invented outside the solar system already several billions years ago.” This statement endorses the idea of panspermia, the hypothesis that Earth was seeded with interstellar life.

Not to send you into a meltdown or anything but octopuses are basically ‘aliens’ — according to scientists.

Researchers have found a new map of the octopus genetic code that is so strange that it could be actually be an “alien”.

They conclude: “Our analysis suggests that substantial expansion of a handful of gene families, along with extensive remodelling of genome linkage and repetitive content, played a critical role in the evolution of cephalopod morphological innovations, including their large and complex nervous systems.” In other words, the cephalopod genome is unusual in many major respects, unlike other organisms we’ve sequenced.

“The octopus appears to be utterly different from all other animals, even other molluscs, with its eight prehensile arms, its large brain and its clever problem-solving abilities,” said US researcher Dr Clifton Ragsdale, from the University of Chicago
.
Analysis of 12 different tissues revealed hundreds of octopus-specific genes found in no other animal, many of them highly active in structures such as the brain, skin and suckers. (source)

Evolutionary surprise: Eight percent of human genetic material comes from a virus

About eight percent of human genetic material comes from a virus and not from our ancestors, according to a new study. The research shows that the genomes of humans and other mammals contain DNA derived from the insertion of bornaviruses, RNA viruses whose replication and transcription takes place in the nucleus. Source: Science Daily

The assimilation of viral sequences into the host genome is a process referred to as endogenization. This occurs when viral DNA integrates into a chromosome of reproductive cells and is subsequently passed from parent to offspring. Until now, retroviruses were the only viruses known to generate such endogenous copies in vertebrates. But Feschotte said that scientists have found that non-retroviral viruses called bornaviruses have been endogenized repeatedly in mammals throughout evolution.

“These data yield a testable hypothesis for the alleged, but still controversial, causative association of BDV infection with schizophrenia and mood disorders,” Feschotte said. The research in Feschotte ‘s laboratory, which largely focuses on transposable elements, the genetic elements that are able to move and replicate within the genomes of virtually all living organisms, is representative of the research under way at UT Arlington, an institution of 28,000 students on its way to becoming a nationally recognized, top-tier research university.

Humans carry more Bacteria Cells than Human Cells

You are more bacteria than you are you, according to the latest body census

All the bacteria living inside you would fill a half-gallon jug; there are 10 times more bacterial cells in your body than human cells, according to Carolyn Bohach, a microbiologist at the University of Idaho (U.I.).

We compulsively wash our hands, spray our countertops and grimace when someone sneezes near us—in fact, we do everything we can to avoid unnecessary encounters with the germ world. But the truth is we are practically walking petri dishes, rife with bacterial colonies from our skin to the deepest recesses of our guts.

Paranormal Experiences and Horizontal Gene Transfer

Now consider Paranormal experiences. What if the same horizontal gene transfers are also occurring in some humans with exposure to inter-dimensional beings?

That is the claim from at least one man, who credits a visit from a goddess, who blessed him with the elixir of life. He has not ate or drank for over 70 years.

The Yogi Prahlad Jahni hasn’t eaten nor drank, for 70 years. He was studied by medical staff of doctors, isolated in a room that could be viewed, his weight was taken before, his vitals were monitored throughout, but in the two weeks in their care, he never went to the bathroom or consumed anything. They found the whole in the top of his mouth, something was dripping from it, and he said this is what he survived on. He described how he met a being when he was young, who blessed him, and from then on he no longer needed food or water to survive.

‘Starving yogi’ Prahlad Jani astounds Indian scientists after two-week surveillance trial – by: AFP – Herald Sun, May 11, 2010

“AN 83-year-old Indian holy man who claimed he spent seven decades without food or water astounded a team of military doctors who studied him during a two-week observation period.

Prahlad Jani, 83, spent two weeks in a hospital in the western Indian state of Gujarat under constant surveillance from a team of 30 medical staff equipped with cameras and CCTV.

During the period, he did not eat, drink or go to the bathroom.”We still do not know how he survives,” neurologist Sudhir Shah said after the end of the experiment. “It is still a mystery what kind of phenomenon this is.”

The long-haired and bearded yogi was sealed in a hospital in the city of Ahmedabad in a study initiated by India’s Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), the national defense and military research institute.

The DRDO hopes that the findings, set to be released in greater detail in several months, could help soldiers survive without food and drink, assist astronauts or even save the lives of people trapped in natural disasters.

“(Mr Jani’s) only contact with any kind of fluid was during gargling and bathing periodically during the period,” G Ilavazahagan, the director of India’s Defense Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences, said.

Mr Jani returned to his village near Ambaji in northern Gujarat after leaving the hospital, where he will resume his routine of yoga and meditation. He said he was blessed by a goddess at a young age, which gave him special powers.

During the 15-day observation, which ended on Thursday, the doctors took scans of Mr Jani’s organs, brain and blood vessels, and conducted tests on his heart, lungs and memory capacity.

“If (Mr) Jani does not derive energy from food and water, he must be doing that from energy sources around him, sunlight being one,” said Dr Shah. “As medical practitioners, we cannot shut our eyes to possibilities, to a source of energy other than calories.”

“Jani has not passed urine since he was brought here on November 12. He has not taken anything by mouth or by any other route not even water during this period,” Dr Urman Dhruv of The Association of Physicians of Ahmedabad, told The Times of India.

“All his parameters are within the normal physiological range. Initially, the project was to continue for seven days but his health allowed us to extend it,” said Dhruv.

What’s more, there was the baffling discovery that Jani’s body appeared to form urine, but that was then reabsorbed back into the bladder wall.

“He underwent all possible medical investigations — from checking blood pressure to MRI of brain and gut, which were normal,” Dr Sudhir Shah, a neurologist, told the Times of India.

“Perhaps, he is more fit than other people of his age. This is an attempt to understand a new dimension in medical science and help mankind.”

Jani’s explanation is simpler. He has been blessed by the gods after hearing his calling when he was eight years old. “I get the elixir of life from the hole in my palate, which enables me to go without food and water,” news agencies quoted Jani as saying. (source)

Another man who has also survived without food and water is Sri Lankan, he has done so for over five years.

Although experts believe humans can only live for two months without a meal, Kirby de Lanerolle insists he has only needed fresh air as nourishment. The breatharian also claims his lifestyle – which he says harnesses light, wind and the ‘vibrations of God’ – can reverse the ageing process and make him immortal.

In an interview on TV show Taboo USA cited by The Sun, de Lanerolle said: ‘There are energy sources out there that are greater than the food calories you are putting in your body.

‘Calories come from photons and light and vibrations and wind. Anything can feed you if your energy centres are open.’

He admits to having eaten seven 500-calorie meals over the last ten months, but claims they made him feel ill. He said: ‘In this consciousness, when I do eat food, it makes me feel very tired. And my alertness goes away when I eat now.’

According to odditycentral.com, de Lanerolle was a drug addict at the age of 16. But he has gone on to become a Gold medalist at the Junior National Level Championship for Rifle Shooting in 1995, winner of several boxing medals, Executive Advisor to the Ministry of Social Services in Sri Lanka and a successful entrepreneur.

He is also believed to be the only person known to have completed a marathon having only consumed water for three months.

How about the girl who does not age? Who knows how this ability came about, but exposure to something cause this genetic change to occur.

Her DNA does not seem to unravel as it does for the rest of us. From the report: Doctors Baffled, Intrigued by Girl Who Doesn’t Age – By Bob Brown via 20/20.
“Brooke Greenberg is the size of an infant, with the mental capacity of a toddler. She turned 16 in January. “Why doesn’t she age?” Howard Greenberg, 52, asked of his daughter. “Is she the fountain of youth?”

Such questions are why scientists are fascinated by Brooke. Among the many documented instances of children who fail to grow or develop in some way, Brooke’s case may be unique, according to her doctor, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine pediatrician Lawrence Pakula, in Baltimore.

“Many of the best-known names in medicine, in their experience … had not seen anyone who matched up to Brooke,” Pakula said. “She is always a surprise.” Brooke hasn’t aged in the conventional sense. Dr. Richard Walker of the University Of South Florida College Of Medicine, in Tampa, says Brooke’s body is not developing as a coordinated unit, but as independent parts that are out of sync. She has never been diagnosed with any known genetic syndrome or chromosomal abnormality that would help explain why.

In a recent paper for the journal “Mechanisms of Ageing and Development,” Walker and his co-authors, who include Pakula and All Children’s Hospital (St. Petersburg, Fla.) geneticist Maxine Sutcliffe, chronicled a baffling range of inconsistencies in Brooke’s aging process. She still has baby teeth at 16, for instance. And her bone age is estimated to be more like 10 years old.

“There’ve been very minimal changes in Brooke’s brain,” Walker said. “Various parts of her body, rather than all being at the same stage, seem to be disconnected.”

Brooke’s mother, Melanie Greenberg, 48, sees a different picture. “She loves to shop,” Greenberg said. “Just like a woman.” Brooke rides in a stroller while her mom shops for clothes in the infant sections of department stores near their home in a Baltimore suburb.

That Brooke is in her mid-teens is so mind-boggling that if another mother with a toddler asks Greenberg how old Brooke is, she usually doesn’t try to explain. “My system always has been to turn years into months,” Greenberg said. “So, if someone asked today, I might say, she’s 16 months old.”
