Tsunami Fears After Powerful 7.3-Mag Earthquake Strikes off British Territory
A MASSIVE 7.3-magnitude earthquake has struck off the coast of a British overseas territory.
The huge quake hit east of the South Sandwich Islands in the south Atlantic Ocean, prompting a tsunami warning.
It happened at around 10.47am today, according to the US Geological Service.
A 7.3-magnitude earthquake is described as “very strong” by seismologists.
The same magnitude quake caused considerable damage inland when it struck Bohol in 2013.
There are no reports of any damage on the small territory.
There were reports of aftershocks in nearby Argentina.
