The Atmosphere-Space Interactions Monitor is a climate observatory for the International Space Station – ISS. Developed by the ASIM consortium for ESA. ASIM was launched April 2nd, 2018, with CRS-14 Falcon-9/Dragon by SpaceX
A video shared on YouTube shows this fantastic and strange luminous event as seen from the International Space Station. Is it one of these types of events they are looking to study or is this something else that is completely unexplained?
ASIM will observe the strange electrical phenomena that occur above thunderstorms known as Transient Luminous Events (TLEs), these unusual features, also called jets, elves or sprites.
