Lucid Dreamers Drive Virtual Cybertruck in Bizarre New Experiment

The research saw volunteers use the power of lucid dreaming to control a truck on a computer while unconscious.
Ever had a dream in which you actually become aware that you are dreaming and can directly influence the events you are experiencing ? This is known as lucid dreaming.
For years, scientists have attempted to study what goes on in the brain during such experiences and now, it seems, it has even become possible to use lucid dreaming to control objects on a computer.
In a series of recent experiments, researchers from California startup REMspace achieved what they are hailing as the first two-way control of a virtual object from a lucid dream.
Volunteers who were hooked up to a computer were able to drive a virtual Cybertruck around on the screen and even evade obstacles, despite being sound asleep.
“Special equipment based on electromyography sensors was developed,” the team wrote in a press release. “If a person moved their legs in a dream, this led to the movement of a virtual avatar (Cybertruck) on the computer screen.”
“Hand movements caused the car to turn, and obstacles were signaled by light through the eyelids.”
“Five experienced lucid dreamers took part in a laboratory study.”
“All of them were able to consciously control a virtual Tesla while asleep when their brains were in REM sleep (confirmed by polysomnography).”
“Two way control of an object on the screen lasted from several seconds to several minutes.”
The research could open the door to many new ways of utilizing the power of lucid dreaming.
“Two-way interaction with a computer from dreams opens up a whole area of new technologies,” said experiment leader Michael Raduga.
“Now, these developments are crude, but soon they will change the idea of human capabilities.”
